WPML is a WordPress translation plugin that stands out partly for its ability to send localization work to designated translators and manage the process within its WordPress dashboard.
What are translators in WPML?
Each translator is a WordPress user, either an existing one with other permissions on the site (like an author or editor) or a user set up exclusively to translate and localize content.
It’s important to remember that to do translation properly, a user must be designated as a translator, even if they are already an administrator.
How do you set up users as translators in WPML?

To set up translators, click on WPML in the left-hand WordPress admin menu to open the Translation Management page.

Select the Translators tab on the top of the screen to see your list of current translators and the languages they can translate to and from.
To add a new translator, click the + Add a Translator button.

To give an existing WordPress user translation capabilities, click Select an existing user and set as Translator. You can search for a user in the search field if the site has a lot of users.
To create a new user who will be a translator, select Create a new user and set as Translator.
- If you create a new user, pay special attention to the Role dropdown field. Typically, “Subscriber” will mean the user can only do translation and localization work and not much else on the site. Be aware that selecting another role here will grant the user other permissions on the site beyond translation (e.g., publishing or editing content or changing settings).
Click Set language pair(s).

On the next screen, use the “From” dropdown to select the original source language this translator will be working with and select the “to” checkbox(s) next to the destination languages they will be translating into.
Click + Add more language pairs for this translator to allow them to translate between other combinations of language.
For users who will be managing translations or generally organizing the site, it is probably helpful to allow them to translate to and from any combination of languages.
Click the Save button and the user will show up in the list of translators.
